Dr Lauren Smith

B.Biomed, MD, Grad Dip (Clinical Ultrasound), FANZCA


Lauren is a Specialist Anaesthetist who, after completing her Doctor of Medicine through the University of Melbourne, completed her anaesthesia training through St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne. Throughout training Lauren undertook rotations at The Alfred Hospital, The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, The Mercy Hospital and the Royal Children’s Hospital which allowed her to gain a broad experience across all specialties.

Lauren completed her speciality fellowship at the Alfred Hospital, gaining exposure to trauma and burns anaesthesia and management of the critically ill patient, whilst developing an interest in perioperative medicine.

Lauren currently has a public appointment at St Vincent’s Public Hospital where she is involved in ENT, maxillofacial, general, orthopaedic, bariatric/upper gastrointestinal, neurosurgery and endoscopic surgery. 

Lauren has an interest in clinical ultrasound and has completed additional post graduate qualifications in this area. In addition to this Lauren has published multiple papers on regional anaesthesia and continues to be involved in anaesthesia research.

Lauren has a young family and spends her time outside of work enjoying time with them and their golden retriever, Percy.
