Areas of Practice
I am a busy anaesthetist working in the inner city and very much enjoy the challenges of my profession. In the public system I am on staff at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, and St Vincent's Hospital. In private I work mainly at St Vincent's Private and the Epworth/ Freemason's hospitals.
I work regularly in many surgical specialties including orthopaedics, neurosurgery, eye surgery, obstetrics, hand surgery, ear/nose/throat and abdominal surgery. I work regularly with children.
I am experienced in epidural and spinal anaesthesia as well as eye blockade techniques. I am skilled in ultrasound guided nerve blockade for anaesthesia and post operative pain relief which is particularly useful in hand and orthopaedic surgery.
Professional History
I studied medicine at Melbourne University and later trained in anaesthesia at St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne. I completed my post graduate training at the Bristol Royal Infirmary and St George's Hospital, London. My fellowship focused on neurosurgical and obstetric anaesthesia. During my studies in the UK I was honoured to receive the Magill Medal for the first place in the primary anaesthetic examination. On return to Australia in 2002 I was a full time staff anaesthetist at St Vincent’s Hospital for 3 years where I was actively involved in teaching and research. I have 7 publications in peer reviewed journals and hope to continue my research activities.
